Pay the $150.00 licensing application fee to the Indiana Board of Veterinary Medicine.

Veterinary License Requirements
Proof of Graduation:

Ask your AVMA accredited veterinary school to submit your transcript directly to the Indiana Board of Veterinary Medicine.

  • Foreign Veterinary Graduates: Vets educated outside the US will need to complete the certificate program offered by the ECFVG OR PAVE.

Exam Requirements:

NAVLE: New vets applying for a license in Indiana will need to pass the NAVLE examination and have their results submitted directly to the Indiana Board from the AAVSB.

  • IMPORTANT: Do not submit a background check until you receive an email from the Board with the official date your application was processed.
  • The Service Code for Veterinarians is 24YBX3.

Required Documents:
  • Name change documentation if you've had a legal name change.
  • If you answer "Yes" to any conduct questions, submit a full detailed statement and court documents.
    Endorsement Applicants

    Veterinarians who are already licensed in another state or territory for any healthcare-related profession must submit a verification of licensure for any licenses currently or previously held, including any disciplinary action taken against any of your licenses by a state veterinary board.

    How long does it take to get licensed?

    The Indiana Board does not specify exactly how long it takes to process license applications, but criminal background checks and transcripts must be received before review.

    CE Exemption Rules:

    • You do not need any continuing education to renew your license if you have been licensed for fewer than 12 months.
    • You will need 20 hours of continuing education to renew your license if you have been licensed for fewer than 24 months.
