Update the Hiring Opportunities section of your Hospital Profile to add a label letting Vets and Techs know you’re hiring. This also lets you see labels on Vet and Tech profiles that indicate if they’re actively job searching when you review shift requests.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens with upcoming Roo relief shifts when I make a hire?

If you have any upcoming shifts scheduled with the Vet or Tech you’re hiring, we’ll cancel those shifts free of charge after their expected start date (as long as you’ve provided us with at least 2 weeks notice).

If their start date is less than 2 weeks away, we’ll need to cancel any shifts within that two-week window, and cancellation fees may apply.

Do I have to post relief shifts in order to meet job-seeking Vets and Techs?

Yes. Roo uses a relief-to-hire process, which results in better matches! This is because you get the real experience working together to see how they connect with your existing team and clients, taking the guesswork out of the hiring process.

Enjoy the benefits of working with a large number of Vets or Techs while only paying for the work they provide on a per shift basis. As a bonus, they’ll treat real pets and generate revenue for your hospital while they work relief shifts. It’s a win-win for your hospital!

How are Roo's relief Vets and Techs screened? What are their qualifications?

Roo is devoted to connecting you with our most talented Veterinarians and Technicians for part and full-time hiring opportunities. You can view work history and experience in their profiles and read reviews from any hospitals they’ve worked with in the past.

You’ll be able to see if they have any special qualifications including DEA registration, Fear Free certification, and for Technicians, their licenses and procedures they’re comfortable performing based on their Roo Tech Tier (NOTE: Our Tech Tiers are different in California due to local regulations).

How does my talent acquisition team get involved?

We love working with talent acquisition teams, and we’re happy to partner with you to help achieve your goals. When one of your hospitals finds a Roo Vet or Tech they love, let Roo know using the hiring button in your dashboard or during the shift rating process.

What is the placement fee?

There is a one-time industry standard placement fee: see our full placement policies and rates.

Is there a retainer fee?

There is no retainer fee when you hire with Roo, and you’ll never owe money up front. Post unlimited relief shifts with no monthly mandates or minimums. You’ll only pay for results: when you find coverage or make a hire.
