Frequently Asked Questions
What happens with upcoming Roo relief shifts when I get hired?
If you have any upcoming shifts scheduled with the hospital that hired you, we’ll cancel those shifts after your expected start date. If you have confirmed shifts with other hospitals, we handle these on a case-by-case basis but generally ask that you still complete your shifts so the hospital isn't left without coverage.
How do I update my hiring preferences? Can I opt out?
We don't want to be "that platform," so we've made it super easy to turn on our job search features when you're looking and switch them off when you don't need them. Simply head to the Overview page of your Vet or Tech profile, and under "Are you interested in full or part-time job opportunities?" select "Actively Job Searching" or "Open to Job Opportunities" to make this status visible to hiring hospitals and see which hospitals have open roles.
When you've found a great role or just want to hit pause, switch this setting to "Not right now," and we'll opt you out of job search notifications and features until you let us know you're ready.
I use Roo for relief, are you a recruiting company now?
We're committed to supporting the veterinary community in every way we can, which includes supporting Veterinarians and Technicians through every stage of their career journeys. Whether you're looking for relief work or searching for the part or full-time job of your dreams, we're here to help.
Our unique relief-to-hire process provides a refreshing way to job search that we believe leads to more fulfilling career matches. That's because when you match with Roo, you already have experience working relief shifts together and know the team, work environment, and clients before you sign any contracts.
Wherever your path takes you, Roo is here to help.
Are hospitals going to start aggressively recruiting me?
At Roo, you’re in the driver’s seat. You control your Vet profile settings / Tech Profile settings and can update them anytime. As with Roo relief shifts, your personal contact info and job search preferences are not shared with hospitals until you request a shift.
If we hear from a hospital that they're interested in hiring you, we'll reach out to you directly to confirm your interest before we share any of your personal info with the hospital, protecting your privacy.
Work a few shifts, get a feel for a variety of hospitals, and if it’s a good match, the Roo team will help with next steps. No aggressive tactics here, just support on both sides of the career transition.
