How to Get Your Veterinary License in Mississippi

Initial License Application
Initial License Fees

Pay $250.00 to the State Board.

Veterinary License Requirements
Proof of Graduation:

Ask your AVMA accredited veterinary school to submit your transcript or diploma directly to the Mississippi Board of Veterinary Medicine.

  • Foreign Veterinary Graduates: Vets educated outside the US will need to complete the certificate program offered by the ECFVG OR PAVE.

Exam Requirements:

NAVLE: Vets applying for a license in Mississippi will need to pass the NAVLE examination and have their results submitted directly to the Mississippi Board.

State Board Exam: Applicants in Mississippi will also need to complete their State Board Exam through the AAVSB's SPA program.

Moral Character Requirements:
  • References: Applicants must submit three (3) letters of recommendation from licensed veterinarians.

Required Documents:
  • Submit a passport size and quality photograph along with your application taken within the last 6 months.
Endorsement Applicants

Veterinarians who are already licensed in another state, U.S. territory, Canadian province, or Washington D.C. must submit Letters of good standing from every jurisdiction in which the applicant has ever held a license to practice veterinary medicine.

AAVSB Vault Service: You can have the AAVSB transfer your NAVLE test results, verification of licensure for any other veterinary licenses, and letters of good standing for a fee of $99.

  • A maximum of 5 hours of CE may be performed remotely or online.
