How to Get Your Veterinary License in Delaware

Pay $200 to the State Board. 

Veterinary License Requirements
Proof of Graduation:

Ask your AVMA accredited veterinary school to submit your transcript directly to the Delaware Board of Veterinary Medicine.

  • Foreign Veterinary Graduates: Vets educated outside the US will need to complete the certificate program offered by the ECFVG OR PAVE or the CVMA (Canadian Veterinary Medical association). 

Exam Requirements:

NAVLE: New vets applying for a license in Delaware will need to pass the NAVLE examination and have their results submitted directly to the Delaware Board.

  • If you passed the NAVLE more than two years ago, you’ll need to submit proof of completing 36 hours of continuing education within the past three years.

Delaware does not require a jurisprudence exam for licensure at this time.

Endorsement Applicants

Veterinarians who are already licensed in another state or jurisdiction must submit a verification of licensure for any licenses currently or previously held, including any disciplinary action taken against any of your licenses by a state veterinary board.

AAVSB Vault Service: You can have the AAVSB transfer your NAVLE test results, verification of licensure for any other veterinary licenses, and letters of good standing for a fee of $99.

The Delaware Board does not specify how long it takes to process license applications. Ensure your application is not missing any documents to avoid delays.

The Delaware Board of Veterinary Medicine does not publish their renewal fees. The board will notify you of your renewal fee at the time of renewal. 

The number of required CE hours may be lower for your first license renewal pending when you got licensed.
