Veterinary Wellness Center of Green had been searching for a Veterinarian for years. Practice Manager, Amy Moore, RVT had posted on job boards and social media but still couldn't find the right culture fit.
DVM owner, Dr. Troy Larson, had spent seven years building a culture centered around team members who are warm, professional, mission-driven, and genuinely fun to work with.
While looking for their new hire, Dr. Larson was covering the work of multiple Vets. Two doctors had already left, both due to burnout. The team was stretched thin, and clients couldn't get in. Amy's practice needed a doctor, but more than that, she needed the right doctor.
“The most frustrating part of hiring? Lack of candidates and really not knowing the Vet before you hire them.”
When Dr. Emily Cameron first came to the practice as a Relief Vet, hiring wasn't the plan. But after her very first shift, Amy's team had already made up their minds.
"After the first shift, my team came to me and said, 'Oh my gosh, she's amazing. Can we keep her?'"
Dr. Cameron came back for a second shift. Then a third. That's when Dr. Larson took her to lunch to share his mission, his philosophy, and what their practice stood for.
By the fourth shift, it was clear. Dr. Cameron wasn't just a good Vet. She was consistent, had character, and relaxed into herself in a way that only happens when someone is genuinely a good fit.

She just fit in with our policies and protocols like she's known them. And I think the relief work had a lot to do with that.

By the time a job offer was made, Amy already knew how Dr. Cameron handled a stressful case, how she communicated with the team, and whether the culture clicked. That's not something a 30-minute interview can tell you.
“Roo gives you the opportunity to really get to know the Vet. You learn so much from that person and there's no pressure if you don't like them."
The process with Roo was frictionless on the administrative side. Amy notified Roo of the hire, sharing Dr. Cameron’s start date and signed contract. And what about the placement fee? Dr. Larson didn't hesitate, "We got to give them credit where the credit's due. We wouldn't have found her unless we used Roo.”
