The Top 3 Money Mistakes Vets Make - and How to Avoid Them

Even financially savvy veterinarians can fall into common traps without realizing it. We’ll explore three of the most common financial missteps veterinarians make: perfectionism around money decisions, allowing student debt to drive career choices, and overlooking the full picture when evaluating compensation. You'll learn how to approach financial decisions more confidently, evaluate opportunities more holistically, and make choices that support both your financial wellbeing and long-term goals.

Speaker

Dr. Meredith Jones, DVM, CSLP®, AFC®

I’m a veterinarian, Certified Student Loan Professional, and founder of Allvet Financial, a financial planning firm focused exclusively on veterinarians and their families. I practiced as an emergency veterinarian for over 12 years. While paying off my own student loans, I became a “money nerd” and started taking financial courses. I founded the Debt-Free Vets Facebook group and the Veterinary Financial Podcast to help my colleagues de-mystify their finances. My mission is to help veterinarians take control of their finances and build lives they love.

Speaker

Joe Warner, CSLP

As a financial planner and Certified Student Loan Professional, Joe is passionate about helping veterinarians build financial confidence and peace of mind. His wife is a vet, so he understands the unique challenges of the profession. After graduating from Kansas State University with a degree in finance, he worked in banking and fintech before pursuing his longstanding passion for personal finance, now helping veterinarians work toward financial freedom through customized strategies that fit their goals and values.
