It will review common POCUS techniques (abdominal, pleural space and lung and cardiac POCUS) and how these techniques can help monitor fluid balance and optimise fluid therapy by monitoring ongoing fluid losses. How POCUS can be integrated into the daily assessment alongside daily physical examination and daily point-of-care blood tests can be used to monitor progression or resolution of the underlying disease as well as enable early detection of complications such as fluid overload and aspiration pneumonia will be discussed.
