Mission Possible: Beating Feline Infectious Peritonitis

Feline infectious peritonitis (FIP) has long been regarded as a uniformly fatal disease, but recent advances have fundamentally changed that narrative. This educational session will explore the evolving understanding of FIP, highlighting how antiviral therapies, improved diagnostic approaches, and increased clinician awareness are transforming patient outcomes.

Participants will gain a practical, case-based understanding of the wide spectrum of FIP clinical presentations and learn how to recognize the disease earlier in its course. Emphasis will be placed on developing individualized diagnostic and treatment plans, with discussion of appropriate testing strategies, therapeutic decision-making, and monitoring protocols.

Through focused case review and clinical discussion, this program will underscore the critical role of early recognition, timely intervention, and diligent follow-up in maximizing survival for cats affected by FIP. Attendees will leave better equipped to approach suspected FIP cases with confidence and an evidence-based, outcome-oriented mindset.
