Ocular ultrasound is a fast, non-invasive, and accessible point-of-care diagnostic tool thatenables general practitioners to evaluate intraocular and retrobulbar structures when the ocularmedia are opaque or when structures cannot be adequately assessed through directexamination. This session will introduce practitioners to the fundamentals of ocular ultrasound,including appropriate indications, basic scanning technique, and interpretation of commonfindings, with an emphasis on recognizing clinically significant abnormalities.

Speaker

Alex LoPinto, DVM, DACVO

Dr. Alexander J. LoPinto is a board-certified veterinary ophthalmologist and Medical Director of Veterinary Eye Center in New York City, bringing extensive training, research, and clinical expertise to the field of veterinary ophthalmology.

A graduate of Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. LoPinto went on to complete a small animal rotating internship at Red Bank Veterinary Hospital followed by an ophthalmology residency at the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University.

Throughout his career, Dr. LoPinto has contributed to a wide range of veterinary ophthalmology research, with work exploring corneal disease, ocular imaging, angiography, and other ophthalmic conditions. His research has been published in leading veterinary journals and presented at American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists conferences.
