Get up to speed on Post–cardiac arrest (PCA) care

We’ve got an hour together to walk through the critical period after a patient achieves return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) during CPR. In dogs and cats, survival rates are much lower compared to humans with most patients experiencing a rearrest within 24 hours. Recent updates to PCA management are essential for the veterinary care team to understand and implement in practice. This lecture will focus on the strategies to optimize the respiratory, hemodynamic, and neurologic systems.

Lisa Sams Ebner, DVM, MS, DACVAA, CVA is a Clinical Professor and FoundationalSciences Unit Lead at Clemson University College of Veterinary Medicine. Shegraduated from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine. Shecompleted her residency training in anesthesia from The Ohio State University andbecame a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia(ACVAA) in 2013. She has since been an active member of the ACVAA, serving invarious leadership roles. She is currently a Director-at-Large on the North AmericanVeterinary Anesthesia Society Board of Directors. She is also certified in veterinaryacupuncture.
