Dr. Alex LoPinto is the Medical Director and founder of Veterinary Eye Center of New York City, also known as VEC. VEC opened in April of 2021 as the first ophthalmology-only veterinary clinic in New York City. Since then, it has grown to include a team of 6 ophthalmologists across 3 locations. VEC will be opening its first location outside of New York, near Boston, called the Veterinary Eye Center of Massachusetts.
A graduate of New York University and then Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. LoPinto completed a rotating internship at Red Bank Veterinary Hospital in New Jersey, prior to his specialty training. He completed his ophthalmology residency at Tufts University Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine and became a board certified veterinary ophthalmologist.
After residency, Dr. LoPinto was the staff ophthalmologist at VERG, a large, busy specialty hospital in Brooklyn where he managed a wide range of ophthalmology cases. Dr. LoPinto launched Veterinary Eye Center of NYC in order to establish a veterinary practice that focuses exclusively on pet eye health. Dr. LoPinto’s clinical interests include corneal diseases, cataract surgery, and corrective eyelid procedures. In his free time, Dr. LoPinto enjoys traveling, photography, tennis, and exploring all that New York has to offer.
